About Larry
I have lived in Ward 4 for 20 years in the RedLeaf community, and have been married for 44 years. I am a retired software director (executive) that enjoys family time, volunteering, exercising, reading, watching movies, and I am a dog lover.
I have been a member of the Redleaf Homeowners Association Board of Directors for twelve years. I have been President for seven years, Vice President for one year, and Treasurer for four years.
A little about me... I moved to the Denver area in 1982 and earned a Masters degree in software engineering from CU. I worked for AT&T, Lucent, and Avaya, and enjoyed working on software development projects, and providing opportunities for new
engineers. I learned to listen to differing perspectives, to set realistic goals, and to ensure delivery to our customers. In addition, AT&T supported employees to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley. It was an enjoyable experience to provide housing to those in need.
I enjoy sports and school age kids and have found ways to be involved. Our children attended school at Nativity of Our Lord and Holy Family High School in Broomfield. From 1989 to 1995, I coached recreational basketball and soccer teams at the YMCA and the Westminster youth soccer league. From 1996 through 1999, I
was an Assistant Coach for our son's Broomfield Blast competitive soccer team and coached basketball at Nativity of Our Lord in Broomfield. In 2000, I coached the Holy Family High School Boys Junior Varsity soccer team and from 2000 to 2005, the Holy
Family High School Boys Freshman basketball team.
Reading is one of my pastimes and the Broomfield Library is a wonderful place for people of all ages. I was a member of the Broomfield Library Friends Foundation (BLFF) for six years. BLFF raised the money to purchase the solar table in front of the
Library. In 2019 and 2020, I tutored math at the Broomfield Library and was a mentor for high school students in The Big Idea Project.
In the last five years, I expanded my volunteering to include FISH, a food pantry in Broomfield. In addition, I volunteered for the Broomfield Neighborhood Board of Adjustment when it was formed in 2021, and was the Board Chair from 2021 to 2024. From 2019 to 2022, I was a member of the Broomfield Cemetery Committee. And
finally, I have been a Broomfield Election Judge since 2020. Helping people vote each election is a pleasure.
Because I believe we have an obligation to help others, I have supported some of the most vulnerable people in Broomfield. In 2020, I was a Code Blue volunteer for the Broomfield warming center at United Methodist Church that provided people a warm place to sleep at night.
During COVID, I volunteered with Code Blue to deliver food to people staying at a hotel.
From 2021 to 2024, I was a Colorado Safe Parking lot operator that provides a safe place for people who (own a) (live in their) car to park at night.
My list of volunteer activities is long, because I believe we are better together.
Broomfield is my home, and creating solutions which serve our community is something I want to be a part of.
